Removing of encroachments is a regular activity of the Jammu Municipal Corporation. Jammu Municipal Corporation intensified the anti encroachment drive within the limits of this Corporation. During these drives the enforcement wing of this Corporation faces a resistance from the encroachers even at times the encroachers manhandled the staff.
The Corporation requires its own police establishment so that effective steps can be taken to curb the menace of encroachment, unauthorized and unplanned constructions.
TRADE TAX:
- Jammu Municipal Corporation has started collecting Trade Tax recently
on 58-items as per the Government Notification dated 21 June 1991 and
vide Government Gazette Notification No. 13 dated 13 June 1996. An
amount of Rs. 1.00 Cr. approximately is expected annually for Trade
Tax. An amount of Rs. 6.27 lacs has been collected during the month of
July to ending November 2009.

REVENUE THROUGH OUTSOURCING OF ADVERTISEMENT RIGHTS:
Jammu Municipal Corporation has allotted lease hold rights
for advertisement of 48 wards for a period of 4-years (from 2009-10 to
2014) after following a transparent mechanism, whereby the income to JMC
has been generated to the extent of Rs.
